North America's Strongest Union

Local 767 Hosts Second Member Organizer Training

LU767_081107programOn November 7-8, Local 767 in Forest Hill, Texas conducted a two-day member organizer training program that was a follow-up to a previous training held in April. Local 767 members were eager to continue learning new skills in order to help union and nonunion workers reach the American dream.

Several of the participants were newly organized members who saw the training as an opportunity to become better equipped to assist in ongoing internal as well as external organizing efforts.

“I recognized opportunities for union growth within our shops and wanted the tools to make that happen,” said Mark Lyle. “This program sharpened my skills and taught me good a process for effective organizing.”

“I received lots of information that applies to both internal and external organizing,” said Brandon Hubbard. “These skills make me a stronger, more effective member when promoting the union. I only wish the program could have been longer.”

“These members are the key to growing our union,” said Claudia Galloway, Sr. Training Coordinator for the Teamsters Training and Development Department. “They know that they are in the best position to talk to other workers about the benefits and protection they can receive by becoming Teamsters.”

Local Union and Joint Council leaders can schedule a volunteer member organizing training by contacting the Teamsters Training and Development Department at 202-624-8117.
