(WASHINGTON) – The International Brotherhood of Teamsters announced today that Ron Herrera has been appointed to Western Region International Vice President. Herrera has served on the General Executive Board as an International Trustee since 2012.
Herrera, who was also recently appointed director of the Teamsters Solid Waste, Recycling and Related Industries Division, has spent his entire career as a vocal advocate for workers in Southern California. He is also Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 396 in Covina, Calif., Executive Director of the National Hispanic Caucus and Recording Secretary of Joint Council 42.
“Ron Herrera is the type of trade unionist we all aspire to be,” said Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa. “He is a tireless champion of working families in both California and across the country. Brother Herrera is a natural leader who I know will continue doing great work in his new roles.”
“I am honored by these appointments and I am excited about helping lead this great union into the future,” Herrera said. “I look forward to new challenges and know that with the leadership and experience of General President Hoffa and the entire General Executive Board, this union’s future is in good hands.”
