Hollywood Teamsters and four other Basic Crafts Unions have reached a tentative agreement with producers on a three-year successor deal to the master contract.
The new deal — which covers about 5,000 below-the-line employees — was concluded Thursday after four days weeks of negotiations between the unions and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
The deal is along the same lines as the most recent agreements negotiated by SAG-AFTRA, the Directors Guild of America, the Writers Guild of America, and the Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, with unspecified annual wage hikes and an increase in contributions to the pension and health fund.
The Teamster-Basic Crafts deal was reached a month after the IATSE and the AMPTP concluded their negotiations on a three-year successor deal covering 14 West Coast IATSE locals.
If ratified by members, the new deal would go into effect on July 31, when the current deal expires. The deal covers the Hollywood-based Teamsters Local 399, which includes drivers as well as animal wranglers; the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (Local No. 40); Plumbers and Pipe Fitters (Local No. 78); Studio Utility Employees (Local No. 724); and Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons, Local No. 755.

Steve Dayan, chairman of the Basic Crafts Unions and secretary/treasurer of Teamsters Local 399, said, “We were able to achieve good contracts for all of our covered members while at the same time keeping Hollywood working. Under this agreement, we are able to ensure stability for the best work force on the planet.”
“We are pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with the Basic Crafts Unions,” AMPTP president Carol Lombardini said. “The new agreement will keep productions working without interruption in the Los Angeles area, and provide certainty for producers and labor for the next three years.”
