(WASHINGTON) – The International Brotherhood of Teamsters escalated rolling hand billing actions this week outside grocery stores under the Albertsons umbrella, demanding that the grocery stores hold their food supplier, Taylor Farms, accountable for a long list of human rights violations or cease purchasing food from the company.

Individuals from more than 25 Teamster locals around the nation held signs that read “Taylor Farms Makes Bad Salads” and handed out information on leaflets about the litany of documented charges at the company’s Tracy, Calif. food processing plant. Last week, more than 10 Teamster locals participated in hand billing activities.

“We intend to increase the size and scope of our actions at the Albertsons family of stores,” said Rome Aloise, President of Joint Council 7 and Secretary-Treasurer of Local 853. “Taylor Farms has been abusing workers physically, emotionally and denying them their rights for far too long. These actions will continue to grow until the Albertsons stores demand that Taylor Farms clean up its act or drop Taylor Farms as a supplier.”

“I am proud to continue these actions in light of the abuses at Taylor Farms,” said Maria Leon, a worker at Taylor Farms. “Every dollar spent toward a Taylor Farms product supports sexual abuse, deplorable working conditions and a violation of human rights. If you are a person or an employer with any kind of conscience, you must commit to holding Taylor Farms accountable for their abuses.”
