Andrews Appointed Director of Teamsters Dairy and Food Processing Divisions

(WASHINGTON) – Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa announced today the appointment of Tony Andrews to director of both the Teamsters Food Processing and Dairy divisions.
Andrews has been the IBT Western Region Representative for the Dairy & Food Processing Division since 2013. He currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of Local 305 in Portland, Ore. and President of the Teamsters Joint Council 37 Executive Board. As director of the two divisions, Andrews will oversee the representation of more than 35,000 dairy workers and 60,000 food processing members across the country.
“I am extremely honored to be appointed to these positions by General President Jim Hoffa,” Andrews said. “Our local unions do an outstanding job representing members in these divisions and I look forward to working with them to continue to raise standards within the dairy and food processing industries.”
Andrews, a second-generation Teamster, began his career as a food processing worker at Ore-Ida Foods in 1977. He was hired by Joint Council 37 as a full time organizer in 1978. Andrews took his first position at Teamsters Local Union 305 in 1980 when he became a business agent. He was elected president of the local in 1987 and then secretary-treasurer in 1993. Andrews, who has held that position for the last 25 years, was also elected President of Joint Council 37 in 2004.
“Tony Andrews is one of the great leaders in the Teamsters Union and he will do an outstanding job,” Hoffa said. “His experience and knowledge will serve our members well in his new positions.”
