A Message from Teamsters Airline Division Director Capt. David Bourne

The COVID-19 pandemic has made 2020 perhaps the most exasperating year on record for the aviation industry, but rest assured that the Teamsters Airline Division is continuing to do everything in its power to advocate on your behalf.

Many of you have likely received a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice. If you have received a WARN notice, be advised that this does not necessarily mean that you will be laid off or furloughed. A WARN notice is, however, a sign that there is a reasonable expectation that your job may be affected by an involuntary furlough based on information available at the time. If you have any questions regarding your specific circumstances, please reach out to your shop steward, business agent, or other local union representative.

As you have probably heard, negotiations in Congress for a second coronavirus relief package are currently at an impasse. The Teamsters have joined other airline unions and many of our employers in advocating that Congress include an extension of the Payroll Support Program (PSP) through March 2021 in the next relief package. We are monitoring the development of this legislation very closely and will keep you abreast of any significant developments.

Your service during this trying time is a testament to your heroism and courage, and rest assured that both your union and your country owe you a significant debt of gratitude.

With Solidarity,

Capt. David Bourne
Director, Teamsters Airline Division
