ABX Air and Teamsters labour dispute to go to arbitration  ACW  ...The labour dispute between ABX Air and pilot employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) is to go to arbitration, a court has ruled. Judge Timothy S. Black of the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio ruled that the dispute between Air Transport Services Group’s cargo airline and pilot employees represented by the IBT is a minor dispute under the Railway Labor Act...

BGH Nurses Reject Contract Offer  Daily Bee  ...Negotiations between Bonner General Health and its nurses will continue after a contract offer proposed by hospital administration was rejected by nurses last week. Val Holstrom, secretary and treasurer of the Teamsters Local 690 in Spokane representing BGH nurses, said negotiations have been ongoing for just over a year, and this is the second vote rejected by a vast majority of the nurses in that time...

Canada: Integram workers strike, could affect GM, Chrysler  CBC  ...Unionized workers at Magna's Integram auto parts plant in Tecumseh, Ont. have rejected a potential collective agreement and are now on strike. Workers there voted 57.9 per cent against a tentative agreement between their union, Unifor Local 444, and Integram. Workers say they no longer wanted to pay for their benefits, and wanted better wages. The strike could affect both Chrysler's Windsor assembly plant and General Motors production...

Machinists’ South Carolina organizing push heats up with Boeing mailing  Seattle Times  ...As the U.S. presidential campaign ended Tuesday, Boeing workers in South Carolina got a negative mailing to their homes that signaled a new election campaign is just kicking into gear: Boeing against the Machinists union. The agreement covers more than 20,000 associates working at 122 stores throughout Arizona...

Federal change to make 4 million more employees eligible for overtime  Post-Gazette  ...The U.S. Department of Labor in May revised the Fair Labor Standards Act in a move that more than doubles the salary threshold at which employees are exempt from overtime protections. An estimated 4 million workers nationwide are expected to qualify for overtime pay for the first time...
