Teamsters President Hoffa Swears In Local 237 Executive Board

Last week, Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa swore in the Executive Board of Teamsters Local 237 in New York to a new five-year term at a packed ceremony. Plenty of noted political guests attended, including New York Sen. Chuck Schumer. The program was emceed by George Miranda, who is a Teamsters International Vice President and the President of Teamsters Joint Council 16 in New York City.

Hoffa Message To The Members: A New Day For The Teamsters

In a video message to the 1.4 million members of the Teamsters Union, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced today that the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the U.S. Attorney General for the Southern District of New York have filed an application with Chief Judge Loretta Preska requesting that she approve an agreement to end decades of government oversight over the Teamsters Union. It is anticipated that Judge Preska will approve the agreement.

Teamsters Rally At Facebook

Teamsters and Facebook drivers rallied today at Facebook headquarters, along with community and political leaders. ABC in San Francisco reports on the efforts by Facebook drivers to organize with Teamsters Local 853 in San Leandro, Calif.

Long Beach/LA Port Truck Drivers Strike For Fairness

Hundreds of port truck drivers in Los Angeles and Long Beach struck the ports in late April in protest over the misclassification of their jobs which costs them thousands of dollars each year. They were supported by drivers from Savannah, Georgia and New Jersey who held demonstrations in solidarity.
