Maine Teamsters Endorse Michaud For Governor, Jackson For Congress

(South Portland, Maine) – Teamsters Local 340 in South Portland, Maine announced that its executive board unanimously voted to endorse both Rep. Mike Michaud (D-2nd District) in his run for governor and State Senator Troy Jackson who is running for the 2nd Congressional District seat being vacated by Michaud.

Michaud has been a tireless advocate for the state’s working families his entire career. A true Mainer, Michaud knows how hard it can be to make ends meet for blue-collar Mainers having started his career working at the Great Northern Paper Mill in his hometown of Millinocket.

“Mike has been an unwavering ally for labor in every office he has held, his track record speaks for itself,” said Vianney Soucy, President and principal officer of Teamsters Local 340. “He is a man that you can depend on doing exactly what he says he is going to do to help move Maine forward.”

Jackson, who serves as the State Senate’s Majority Leader, has always been on labor’s side throughout his career. Raised in St. John Valley, Jackson has served three terms in the State House of Representatives before become a State Senator.

“A logger by trade, Jackson understands the challenges that face labor in the State of Maine,” Soucy said. “Instead of complaining about these challenges, Jackson ran for office so he could attack them head-on. He is the type of legislator that doesn’t wait for you to ask him to do something – he calls you to find out what can be done to improve labor in Maine. That’s the kind of person we need in office.”
