Teamsters Support ‘SAFE SKIES ACT Of 2013

(WASHINGTON) – The Teamsters Union applauds today’s re-introduction of the ‘Safe Skies Act of 2013’ by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA). The bill would bring air cargo and supplemental pilots under the same safety regulations as air passenger pilots, standardizing rules within the industry.

“Passenger and air cargo pilots deserve same level of safety when it comes to fatigue,” said Teamsters Airline Division Director David Bourne. “Our union strongly believes that the Safe Skies Act of 2013 is crucial to the safety of not only pilots, but the entire flying public. On behalf of our 80,000 members in the airline industry, the Teamsters thank Sen. Boxer for her work on this important legislation.”

The Teamsters Airline Division represents about 80,000 workers in all segments of commercial aviation, including pilots and flight attendants. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters was founded in 1903 and represents more than 1.4 million hardworking men and women in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
