While fast track opponents won the battle Friday, the war isn't over yet. Thank your lawmakers for voting "no" last week and urge them to continue to stand up for workers!
(WASHINGTON) – The following is the official statement of Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa in response to the House’s rejection of a Senate-approved fast track trade package that would have made it easier for bad trade deals like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) to move through Congress.
TAKE ACTION NOW: please email and call your Representative at 888-979-9806 and urge them to vote NO on Fast Track.
(WASHINGTON) –Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa challenged House representatives to vote down a severely flawed Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) bill in a letter delivered this morning.
Trade Adjustment Assistance will do little to help workers. And it will do a lot to hurt seniors due to Medicare cuts.
(WASHINGTON) – In a letter sent to House representatives today, the Teamsters joined eight other labor unions in expressing their opposition to a bill that would renew Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) without protecting millions of public sector workers while raiding Medicare for funding.
Hundreds rallied in DC on June 2 demanding transparency in the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal talks. They called on U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman to release the text of the agreement, which is still shrouded in secrecy.
Supporters of greater trade transparency were rebuffed when they arrived at the U.S. Trade Representative's Office in Washington on Tuesday seeking to read the TPP's text. It's just one more reason why Congress can't give its approval to fast track.
