(MANCHESTER, Conn.) – Today, hundreds of Hartford Distributors Inc. (HDI) workers attended a memorial at the facility to pay tribute to the eight victims of the 2010 workplace shooting that devastated the local community.

The workers, who are represented by Teamsters Local 1035 in South Windsor, Conn., joined with members of HDI’s management team, members of the community and religious leaders to honor the memory of the men who lost their lives during the senseless act of violence six years ago.

“That was a dark time for the entire HDI family,” said Chris Roos, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 1035. “We lost friends and family that day. Men who were pillars of our community that went to work each day to provide for their families.”

HDI management and the union have been at odds over a contract dispute since early June, but the two sides agreed to put aside their differences to honor the memories of the victims.

“We may have our disagreements with management, but paying tribute to our friends and coworkers as a group is more important right now,” Roos said.
