(WASHINGTON) – International Brotherhood of Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa has appointed Tommy Blitsch director of the Teamsters Trade Show and Convention Centers Division.

Blitsch, a 25-year Teamster, was elected Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 631 in 2011 and again in 2014. He began his career working at UPS as a pre-loader in 1992. Local 631 represents more than 2,000 members in the trade show and convention centers industry.

“I want to thank the General President for this opportunity and I look forward to working with him and our locals that represent members in the trade show and convention centers industry,” Blitsch said. “Together, we can continue to raise standards for all workers in this division.”

Blitsch has held the positions of Vice President and President of Teamsters Local 631. He also serves on the Governor of Nevada’s Workforce Development Board (GNWB) Industry Sector Council and was recently appointed Vice President At-Large on the Nevada State AFL-CIO Executive Board.

“Tommy Blitsch does an outstanding job representing his members at Local 631 in Las Vegas and his excellent work ethic and commitment to the union will serve him well in his new position as director of the Teamsters Trade Show and Convention Centers Division,” Hoffa said.
