The workers who drive buses for the well-paid employees of the world’s wealthiest technology companies deserve a union. These drivers often work from dawn well until dusk, but they’re barely getting by.
They work for transportation contractors like Loop Transportation and Compass Transportation, providing services to big-name corporate giants like Facebook, Apple, eBay, Yahoo, Zynga, Genentek and Amtrak.
In November, Facebook drivers with Loop Transportation joined Teamsters Local 853 in San Leandro, Calif., and more workers are following their lead and coming together to form their union with the Teamsters.
