Central States Rescinds Prohibited Reemployment Rules

January 30, 2003

Earlier today the Central States Pension Fund announced that the Trustees of the Fund voted to rescind the Prohibited Reemployment rules that were adopted in July 2002.

The action was taken on the initiative of International Vice President At-Large Fred Gegare who was elected as a Fund Trustee late last year. Vice President Gegare and the other employee trustees were able to persuade a clear majority of the Fund Trustees to act in response to complaints by Local Union officials, members and retirees concerning various aspects of the rules that were implemented in July 2002.

As a result of the Trustees’ action the Prohibited Reemployment rules will revert to the rules that were in effect prior to July 2002.
