Local 962 is the Answer in Riddle

June 14, 2002

Two weeks ago, Teamsters from Local 962 approved a three-year contract with Tri City Ready Mix in Riddle, Oregon. The company is owned by MDU/Knife River Corporation and is locally managed by LTM/Beaver State in Roseburg.

"It was a great first-time contract," said Dan W. Ratty, Business Representative from Local 962 in Central Point, Oregon.

"Since Tri City is part of a larger entity, this victory provides us a much better opportunity to organize other units of the company, and to help upgrade the sand and gravel industry," said Jerry L. Stuart, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 962.

The terms of the agreement include

  • Seniority rights;
  • Increased top wages from $14.00 to $15.00 per hour—retroactive to the beginning of 2002;
  • A 401(k) plan;
  • A doubled pension plan with past service credits; and
  • An extra week of vacation;

The workers voted for Teamster representation in July 2001.
