Teamsters Law Enforcement League Joins National Coalition

May 19, 2006

On May 12, the Teamsters Law Enforcement League (TLEL) became a member of the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), joining a respected institution involved in championing law enforcement issues in the country.

NAPO is a coalition of police unions and associations from across the United States that serves to advance the interests of America’s law enforcement officers through legislative and legal advocacy, political action and education.

Teamsters President Jim Hoffa appointed Merl King, a former police officer and current business agent with Local 320 in Minneapolis, to serve as the Teamsters’ representative to NAPO. In this capacity, King will serve on NAPO’s Board of Directors as Vice President for Area 10.

NAPO produces the annual Top Cops Awards Ceremony to honor heroic acts of members of the law enforcement community. The TLEL was a primary sponsor of this year’s event at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., which was hosted by John Walsh of America’s Most Wantedtelevision show.
