Some opponents of our effort to become Teamsters at AA have put out misinformation about dues. But here are the straight facts: We will NOT pay any initiation fee when we vote in the Teamsters and our monthly dues will be 2.5 times our base hourly rate, minus license premiums.

The Teamsters have been clear from the beginning regarding how our dues as Teamsters will be calculated. As the factsheet states, "The Teamster dues rate is 2.5 times our base hourly rate per month, minus license premiums. So, if you're an AMT or work in facility maintenance and make $28.00 per hour (minus license premiums for AMTs), your monthly dues will be $70. In some cases, local membership may have added an additional assessment. We will make sure to let you know if there is such an assessment at your station."

Also, we will not pay any initiation fee when we become Teamsters because we will be a newly organized unit. Only those hired after the Teamsters are certified may be assessed an initiation fee based on local union bylaws. As Teamsters, 78 percent of our dues money stays at the local for direct support to members. Dues rates based on hourly pay are set and approved by the membership.
