A Letter From Our Brothers And Sisters At US Airways

As most of us know, there is a strong campaign for Teamster power happening at US Airways. Like us, they are tired of weak representation and they want to be represented by the strongest union for airline mechanics as AA and US Airways move forward with the merger. In the spirit of coming together, the organizing committee has written us a letter about our respective campaigns.

As the US Air Fresh Start Organizing Committee writes in the letter, US Airways mechanics know the kind of weak representation we have been experiencing at AA. They’ve been through bankruptcies, a merger, outsourcing and poor union leadership under the IAM. But with the strong Teamster drives leading the way at both AA and US Airways, we have an opportunity to stand together and fight back.

“Our profession is finally coming around to the fact that it’s time to join together and stop fighting each other. There is only one reason for this change – the leadership from the Teamsters Union in the aviation industry,” US Air mechanics write. “American Airlines has the largest maintenance facility in the free world and we need to save it from being destroyed as so many others have been…It’s time to take a stand together as the largest airline in the free world and stop the onslaught of outsourcing. As Teamsters, we will have the strength and power to fight to correct this slide to outsourcing.”

Read the letter. This is the kind of solidarity and brotherhood we will have as Teamsters at AA and the New American. Share the letter with your coworkers and tell them it’s time to SIGN A TEAMSTER CARD TODAY!
