Teamsters’ Contract With DHL Express Fully Ratified After Last Local Rider Approved
(Washington, D.C.) – The remaining contract rider between the Teamsters Union and DHL Express was approved on Wednesday, October 9, paving the way for the national contract between the parties to take effect. The agreement is now fully ratified. The old agreement had been extended through today to allow the ratification process to be completed. Operational changes contained in the new agreement will likely be implemented over the next few weeks. The contract, which runs through March 31, 2017, covers about 2,000 Teamsters employed by DHL.
In addition to significantly increasing benefit contributions, the contract calls for a $1,250 lump-sum payment to most workers this year, followed by a $1 per hour wage increase effective April 1, 2014; 60 cents/hour on April 1, 2015; 35 cents/hour on April 1, 2016 and 25 cents/hour on October 1, 2016.
