DC Cab Protest Today at 2 pm! It’s Time to Fight Back, Protest at the Mayor’s Office

On Friday the DC Taxicab Commission launched another attack on cab drivers by targeting those without new dome lights. Several of our fellow drivers received tickets and fines and had their cars impounded.

Now it’s time to fight back!

Today, Monday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 pm we are going to the John A. Wilson building to demand a meeting with Mayor Gray. We will raise our voices and demand that the city compensate us for the money we paid out of our own pockets to replace the dome lights. Join your fellow taxicab drivers tomorrow and protest the city’s unfair treatment.

Gather at 2 pm in front of the Wilson building (1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC).

The DCTC has unilaterally imposed a series of unreasonable and costly regulations – this is just one of them. But drivers were not given adequate time to comply with new dome light regulation and the DCTC has failed to communicate clearly with us about deadlines. That hasn’t stopped the city from attacking drivers who have been unable to comply with the new regulation. The Washington DC Taxi Operators Association, Teamsters Local 922 has reached out to the mayor’s office repeatedly since Wednesday last week. Mayor Gray has yet to respond.

It’s time to go directly to the mayor’s office and demand that the city subsidize the cost of these new required changes. Let’s stand together in unity, protesting on Monday to show this city that taxicab drivers voices must be heard.

When: Monday, November 4 at 2:00 pm
