Santa Rosa Public Employees Affiliate with Teamsters Local 856
The members of the Santa Rosa City Employees Association (SRCEA) have voted overwhelmingly to join together with the Teamsters Union through an affiliation agreement signed today with Teamsters Local 856.
The partnership with Teamsters Local 856, the largest public sector Teamsters Local in Northern California, provides SRCEA with full access to the resources and strength of the 1.4 million member Teamster organization.
“The members of SRCEA are excited about the opportunity to align with an organization that can provide professional support for the volunteer SRCEA Board who represent the majority of miscellaneous employees in the City,” said Mike Reynolds, SRCEA President.
“We look forward to standing together with the members of SRCEA,” said Peter Finn, Teamsters Local 856 Secretary-Treasurer and Principal Officer. “We are proud to be working with a group of employees who are dedicated to providing services that maintain the quality of life within the community,” he said.
Established in 1947, SRCEA represents 410 of the 1104 current city employees in 106 separate administrative, technical, and professional job classifications throughout all City departments.
Teamsters Local 856 represents 8,000 hardworking members in the San Francisco Bay Area, North Bay and Central Valley Communities and is affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which was founded in 1903.
