On Friday, June 20, warehouse workers at Vistar voted to join Local 391 in Greensboro, North Carolina. There are 26 workers in the bargaining unit.

“Congratulations to the workers at Vistar, who stood united to win this campaign,” said Mike McGaha, President of Local 391. “We look forward to negotiating a strong first contract for the workers.”

Vistar is part of PFG Foods, Inc. Local 391 already represents the truck drivers at Vistar.

“From the beginning these workers wanted a voice—they wanted Teamster representation,” said Tony Scott, Local 391 Vice President and Business Agent. “These workers are to be commended for standing up and standing strong for what they believe in for themselves and for their families.”

Jeff Meadows, an 11-year employee, said workers remained united when faced with a vicious anti-worker, anti-union campaign waged by the company.

“We all held together,” Meadow said. “This campaign all boiled down to fairness. We just want to be treated fairly and equally.”

“I wish to thank my Organizing Committee, my Vistar driver shop steward Russell Strickland, the Vistar drivers, and YRC shop steward and President of the Central Labor Council for Local 391, Barry Hardy, for their time and help with this victory,” Scott said. “This was a team effort from start to finish.”
