Franklin Park Public Works Employees Ratify First Teamsters Contract

Public works employees in the Village of Franklin Park, Ill., ratified their first Teamsters contract after unanimously voting to join the Teamsters.

Local 700 represents 18 members with the suburban Chicago public works department who perform services such as snow removal, tree trimming, street sweeping and more.

“We are so proud to represent this unit of hardworking men and women who make a difference in their community every day,” said Becky Strzechowski, President of Teamsters Local 700.

Through ratifying their first Teamsters contract, Franklin Park members gained benefits like an 11 percent salary increase over the term of the contract, 13 paid holidays, double time pay for any time worked on Sundays, improved boot allowance and more. This unit, who previously had no union representation, are now guaranteed the rights to the grievance procedure and a just cause provision secured as members of Teamsters Local 700.

Teamsters Local 700 represents more than 10,000 public employees in Illinois, including members in nine public work departments.
