Contract Negotiations Continue

On January 27 and 28, 2015, the Teamsters First Student Negotiating Committee met with representatives of FirstGroup in California to begin the first round of talks for our four-year First Student National Master Agreement. Negotiations were productive and covered numerous issues proposed by Teamsters locals nationwide. However, we still have work to do, and more negotiations are needed.

A second bargaining session has been agreed upon by both parties to take place the week of February 24, 2015. The additional round of negotiations will help ensure all Teamster school bus workers are provided with a strong and comprehensive contract at First Student facilities across the U.S.

We will continue to keep you and your First Student co-workers informed as the process continues. Once a tentative agreement is negotiated by the committee and endorsed by local union representatives, it will be voted on by all Teamsters covered by the contract.

“We’ve assembled a great team and you can expect that all of the strength, power and resources of the Teamsters Union are focused on winning a strong new national contract for all of our members at First Student. The Negotiating Committee will get the job done to ensure you and your co-workers receive the protections you deserve.”

Stay tuned! We’ll be returning to the bargaining table on February 24!
