Ballots Sent Out For San Bernardino County Contract
Thousands of public employees in San Bernardino County, California, will now have an opportunity to use their voice in the workplace! Yesterday, ballots for the tentative agreement covering the 11,000 employees went in the mail to each union household. The bargaining committee and stewards from Teamsters Local 1932 (newly charted this year after the successful organizing campaign) unanimously endorsed the agreement.
“We encourage everyone to watch their mailboxes for receipt of the ballot package,” said Randy Korgan, chief negotiator for Local 1932. “Our bargaining committee spent many long hours working to get the best terms possible.”
The multi-year agreement calls for immediate increases to every member’s wages, and it includes a schedule of further increases throughout the life of the contract. Additionally, there are incentives and differential payments offered for various credentials and training that are part of the jobs in the county. Because San Bernardino is so vast, there are many job classifications, including diverse professions such as accountants, motor fleet mechanics, mental health specialists and auditors.
Ballots are due back November 30. Read more here.
