Hundreds of community members joined Teamsters and state legislators at a rally yesterday to protest Miller/Coors plan to close their Eden, NC, facility.

“Our rally yesterday brought state legislators and community members together with our members and retirees to show support for the workers here at the Miller/Coors facility,” said Vernon Gammon, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 391. “We feel that company made the wrong decision to close it, and we are intent on getting answers. We think the evidence will show that this is one of their better plants.”

Among the local officials at the rally was Rockingham County Manager Lance Metzler who told the Rockingham Now news agency that the plant closing was “frustrating” and would have a “huge impact.”
