(ROSEVILLE, Minn.) – Hundreds of families, Teamsters Local 120 officials, Lt. Governor Tina Smith and Rep. Erin Murphy rallied late last week against the deceptive business practices of Lakeville Motor Express (LME), a Roseville-based trucking company.

At the rally, community and political leaders called for the company to address public concerns and pay the workers. To date, the company’s leadership has refused to provide the workers and their union with answers.

The rally was held outside Finish Line Express, a new company to which Lakeville Motor Express has moved its trucks, customers and property. Customers have told Local 120 that when they called Lakeville Motor Express, they were sent an FLE truck instead. The workers are calling the move an egregious example of union busting.

Shane Thompson, a LME worker, said he and his family are “struggling to figure out how we’re going to make the house payment in December.”

“It’s just wrong. It’s the same thing as stealing from these workers,” said Lt. Governor Smith. “I’m here today to tell them I’m noticing this and we’re going to do everything to make sure [the workers] are paid the money they’re owed.”

“We are here to bring public attention to this shameful company and appreciate the efforts of our political leaders, including the governor’s office, to help our members,” said Tom Erickson, President of Local 120. “We are not backing down from the fight for justice for these hardworking families.”
