(CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.) – Today, the Stand Up for School Bus Safety Coalition hosted a press conference to announce the launch of their newly-formed organization. In attendance, were community leaders, parents, drivers, monitors, school faculty, allied organizations, and citizens from all over Chattanooga who are concerned about school bus safety.

The organization’s formation comes nearly a year after a tragic school bus accident in Chattanooga where six children were killed and dozens more were injured. Speakers at the event stressed that everyone throughout the community in Chattanooga – parents, grandparents, school bus drivers and monitors, community and faith leaders, teachers, principals and school administrators – has an important role to play in school bus safety.  The Stand Up For School Bus Safety Coalition plans to educate and advocate around school bus safety in Hamilton County. Their first activity will be the distribution of a school bus safety tips poster throughout the community.

“The Stand Up For School Bus Campaign is very much needed” said Ezra Harris, President of the Woodmore Neighborhood Association. “Everyone should get involved in this effort, and I’m happy to see someone picking up the ball on this issue.”

The Stand Up for School Bus Safety Coalition encourages anyone who wants to help in a constructive way to participate in our organization. Like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/standupforschoolbussafety/ or call 423-408-2001 for more information.
