By a majority vote, 24 mobile blood drive workers at Red Cross in Tulsa, Okla., have voted to become members of Teamsters Local 523.  These are the first Teamster-represented Red Cross workers in the state.

“Today we showed we are united at the American Red Cross in Tulsa,” said Chad Sather, a Red Cross specialist II employee. “We are ready to start negotiations here locally to improve our working conditions.”

These Red Cross workers join the 1,500 other employees of Red Cross who are already represented by the Teamsters from coast to coast.

“I’d like to congratulate the group on seeking Teamster representation and following it through to a successful election,” said Gary Ketchum, President of Local 523. “I also want to thank the Teamsters Organizing Department, in particular Jeff Farmer and James Curbeam, for assisting with the successful campaign. We’re very excited to represent these hard working Red Cross employees and look forward to having them be members of Local 523.”
