The Teamsters Union and DHL Express have reached a tentative, five-year contract agreement and leaders of local unions will meet next week to review the proposal.

Upon ratification, the contract will be retroactive to April 1, 2017 when the current contract expired.

“We faced challenging issues in negotiations due to the changing delivery environment and the fact that we have 25 supplemental agreements and numerous health, welfare and pension funds,” said Bill Hamilton, Director of the Teamsters Express Division. “Despite the lengthy negotiations, we were able to secure retroactivity regarding wages and health, welfare and pension contributions, which is a huge victory for our members.”

The national contract covers about 3,500 Teamsters—drivers, clerical workers and gateway employees.

Leaders of local unions will be meeting Friday, Feb. 9 to review the tentative agreement.
