XPO Worker Raises Her Voice on the Picket Line

Port truck drivers and warehouse workers across Southern California mounted a first full day of actions striking at XPO Logistics and NFI Industries. Protesting worker misclassification, improper use of temp workers, abuse and racial discrimination, strikers made their voices heard. Isabel Samayoa, a driver at XPO Commerce, spent her day on the picket line highlighting the issues that XPO has continually ignored.

“As a female truck driver, the issue of bathrooms is a big one for me. I have to knock on windows and often endure unsanitary conditions just to use the bathroom and XPO simply doesn’t care,” Samayoa said.

After several worker actions and marches on the boss that workers felt fell on deaf ears, Isabel is on strike to really ensure that her voice is heard.

“It feels good to be out here with the rest of my coworkers to get the message across to XPO as to why we’re on strike. The misclassification as independent contractors is wrong. We know we’re employees, and we know that XPO is our employer,” Samayoa said.
