USDA Announces Details of Direct Assistance to Farmers through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (HERE)
- U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced details of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP), which will provide up to $16 billion in direct payments to deliver relief to America’s farmers and ranchers impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to this direct support to farmers and ranchers, USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program is partnering with regional and local distributors, whose workforces have been significantly impacted by the closure of many restaurants, hotels, and other food service entities, to purchase $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat and deliver boxes to Americans in need.
Treasury is Delivering Millions of Economic Impact Payments by Prepaid Debit Card (HERE)
- This week, Treasury and the IRS are starting to send nearly 4 million Economic Impact Payments (EIPs) by prepaid debit card, instead of by paper check.

Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce (HERE)
- CISA’s Identifying Critical Infrastructure During COVID-19 guidance and accompanying list are intended to support state, local, and industry partners in identifying the critical infrastructure sectors and the essential workers. CISA issued the guidance originally on March 19 and has continued to update it based on feedback from the Critical Infrastructure community. The most recent update on May 19, provides clarity around many individual worker categories and updated language to better reflect terminology used in food and agriculture industries.
Acting Secretary Wolf’s Statement on the Extension of Title 42 (HERE)
- Today, the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention extended Title 42 public health restrictions at the borders until he determines the serious danger from COVID-19 has ceased. This order has been one of the most critical tools the Department has used to prevent the further spread of the virus and to protect the American people, DHS frontline officers, and those in their care and custody from COVID-19.

Our efforts over the last several months to limit non-essential travel have been successful and now is not the time to change course. HHS, Industry Partners Expand U.S.-Based Pharmaceutical Manufacturing for COVID-19 Response (HERE)
- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will work with a team of private industry partners led by Phlow Corporation of Richmond, Virginia, to expand pharmaceutical manufacturing in the United States for use in producing medicines needed during the COVID-19 response and future public health emergencies.

- The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is delivering $11 billion in new funding to support testing for COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will provide $10.25 billion to states, territories, and local jurisdictions through CDC’s existing Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC) cooperative agreement.
