Teamsters closed out this year with back-to-back wins at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, organizing nearly 300 workers at the country’s largest distributer of alcoholic beverages.

“We have incredible momentum at this company and no intention of slowing down,” said Jeff Padellaro, Director of the Teamsters Brewery, Bakery & Soft Drink Division. “Southern Glazer’s workers all across the country are making it loud and clear that they want the benefits, wages, and job protections that come with being a Teamster.”

Over 200 Southern Glazer’s warehouse workers in Lakeland, Fla. voted by ten-to-one margin to join Teamsters Local 79.

“These workers stuck together, and it paid off. We’re going to be behind them every step of the way as they demand their worth at the bargaining table,” said Brian Rothman, Local 79 President. “Our union raises the bar for the compensation in every craft we organize, and this company won’t be any different.”

“I look forward to seeing fairness, equality, and accountability,” said Sylvia Campos, one of the warehouse workers who voted to join. “I also look forward to being in a workplace with better values.”

A few days later, a group of 38 workers at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits in Louisville voted to join Teamsters Local 783.

“The decision by these workers to organize with the Teamsters is a powerful testament to their strength and unity,” said Justin Scharrer, President of Local 783. “This victory not only empowers them, but also inspires other Southern Glazer’s workers across the country to come join us and advocate for their rights.”
