(SOUTH FLORIDA) – Concrete ready-mix drivers at Titan Florida have voted overwhelmingly to join the Teamsters. The group of more than 160 workers organized with Teamsters Local 769 to secure improved wages, job security, and working conditions at the building materials producer.
“Titan Florida ready-mix drivers have made their voices heard, and we are honored they have chosen to improve their workplace by joining the Teamsters,” said Tom Gesualdi, Director of the Teamsters Building Material and Construction Trade Division. “These drivers are the heartbeat of Titan’s operation, and we look forward to negotiating a first contract.”
The drivers voted to join the Teamsters despite an aggressive anti-union campaign from Titan Florida, including company-sanctioned captive audience meetings and the hiring of a union-busting firm who attempted to dissuade workers from joining the Teamsters.
“I want to congratulate and welcome our newest members at Titan Florida into our 769 family,” said Josh Zivalich, President of Local 769 and Joint Council 75. “These workers overcame an intense anti-union campaign, and we look forward to helping them achieve the strong first Teamsters contract they deserve.”
“Joining the Teamsters gives us the voice we need to advocate for our rights and improve our working conditions,” said Regis Palomino, a ready-mix driver at Titan Florida and member of the union’s committee. “As Teamsters, the future is brighter than ever before for us. We are honored to be the newest members of America’s strongest labor union.”
