(KANSAS CITY) – Carhaul drivers at Hansen Adkins in Kansas City, Mo., have voted to join Teamsters Local 41. These newly organized workers will soon join thousands of Teamsters carhaulers nationwide under the National Master Automobile Transporters Agreement (NMATA).
“We are continuing to grow our strength and expand our power across the carhaul industry,” said Avral Thompson, Director of the Teamsters Carhaul Division. “These drivers chose to organize because they know the only path to better wages, stronger benefits, and safer working conditions is through a Teamsters contract.”
The current NMATA is set to expire on August 31. The Teamsters are preparing to negotiate a strong new national agreement that raises standards across the industry and secures better pay, benefits, and protections for all Teamsters carhaulers covered under the contract.
“We’re proud to be Teamsters and excited to be part of the strength that comes with the NMATA,” said Bret Rust, a driver at Hansen Adkins and new member of Local 41. “Being part of the strongest union in North America means real job security and a better future for all of us.”
“I’m proud to welcome these hardworking drivers to Local 41 and look forward to representing them as we fight for a powerful new national contract,” said Joseph Monslow, President of Local 41. “Growing our density in the carhaul industry is key to maintaining the strong standards Teamsters have built over generations.”
Teamsters Local 41 represents thousands of workers across a wide range of industries in the Kansas City area. For more information, visit www.teamsters41.org.
