The following is a statement from Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien on developing news regarding United Airlines in Denver:

“The Teamsters Union is mourning the passing of a United Airlines technician, represented by Teamsters Local 455 in Colorado, who lost his life during a tragic incident on Friday while working overnight at the Denver International Airport.

“On behalf of 1.3 million members, our General Executive Board, and over 10,000 hardworking technicians at United Airlines, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters expresses our sincerest condolences and sends love to the family of our beloved brother in Denver.

“Every single Teamsters technician at United Airlines is instrumental to the daily operations and safety standards that allow United to remain a major carrier in the United States.

“Today, we must all come together and mourn not only for the life lost, but for all those affected by this tragedy. To our brother’s family and loved ones, to all those who had the honor of working with him, and to every Teamster, we stand with you. The loss of any of our brothers or sisters is felt deeply across the nation, and suffering such a tragedy during the holiday season makes our hearts even heavier.

“The Teamsters Union is supporting an ongoing law enforcement investigation into this workplace incident. Additionally, OSHA officials are set to complete their own inspection of the United Airlines facility.”

The union will provide further details and updates as they become available.
