(WASHINGTON) – The International Brotherhood of Teamsters today announced its strong support for H.R.5119, the Safe Aircraft Maintenance Standards Act, which was passed out of the House of Representatives’ Transportation and Infrastructure Committee earlier this week.
On Wednesday, November 19, 2019 Teamsters joined the Airline Pilots Association (ALPA), the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA) and the Independent Pilots Association (IPA) at a press conference at the U.S. House of Representatives to voice their support for the Safe Skies Act.
(WASHINGTON)—The pilots of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA); the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA), including the Independent Pilots Association (IPA); the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 1224 and Teamsters Atlas Local 2750 joined U.S. House of Representatives leaders today to introduce legislation that would apply one level of safety for all-cargo operations in the same manner as passenger operations. The Safe Skies Act, introduced by Representatives Salud Carbajal (D-CA), John Katko (R-NY), Matt Cartright (D-PA), and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), would ensure that cargo pilots have the same flight, duty, and rest requirements as their passenger-carrying counterparts in order to prevent dangers posed by fatigued pilots.
Showcasing the varied career fields available in the aviation industry was the goal as Division representatives attended the ProJet Aviation Education and Career Expo in Leesburg VA on Friday, November 11th. Director David Bourne, Deputy Director Allynn Allen, International Representatives Bob Fisher and Chris Moore were joined by Local 210 Shop Steward Blake Silverstein for the event.
