Leaders from Teamsters local unions that represent DHL members met in Washington, D.C. on August 7 and overwhelmingly approved the tentative master agreement and supplements. Ballot materials will be mailed out to members on or about Wednesday, August 21.
The Teamsters National AEI Negotiating Committee and the company agreed to tentatively extend the existing contract until March 31, 2014. In exchange for the extension AEI has agreed to maintain health and welfare and pension benefits with an increase in the contribution rate along with a $bonus for all employees. Ballots were mailed to AEI Teamsters on August 5, and must be returned to the Lanham, Maryland post office by 10am, August 27.
(WASHINGTON) —Teamsters working at DHL across the United States and Canada will join in solidarity for an International Day of Action on December 12 with DHL workers worldwide to support workers in Turkey who have been mistreated while trying to form a union.
“Twenty-one DHL workers in Turkey have been fired since they initiated an organizing drive in April, 2012,” said William Hamilton, Director of the Teamsters Express Division. “DHL management has responded with confrontation and refusal to recognize their new union.”
The Express Division was created in 2008 to handle all matters relating to DHL Express (this includes the DHL Independent Cartage Contractors or “ICC”s) and Air Express International “AEI”, formerly known as Danzas. Under the direction of Division Director Bill Hamilton, the Express Division has established regional chairs. Among their many duties, these chairs will oversee implementation of the National Master DHL Express agreement and the AEI Master.
