Teamsters at Republic Services Extend Picket Lines to California

(SAN JOSE and FREMONT, Calif.) – Sanitation workers on strike at Republic Services [NYSE: RSG] in Marshfield, Mass., extended their picket line to California early yesterday morning. Republic Services/Allied Waste workers at the company’s Newby Island Resource Recovery Park in San Jose—including recycling, organics, mechanics, collection and administrative employees—exercised their right to refuse to cross the picket line on Thursday morning.

Republic Negotiations Break Down Again

(BOSTON) – Early this morning, Teamsters Local 25 resumed negotiations with Republic Services only to have them break down again in the face of company stonewalling. After less than two hours at the table, management’s anti-union, Phoenix-based negotiator offered nothing new to the Teamsters negotiating team.

Local 391 Organizes N.C. Stericycle Drivers

By a more than three-to-one margin, drivers at Stericycle’s Haw River, N.C. facility voted late last week to join Teamsters Local 391 so they can better fight for respect and dignity on the job.

Moses Darden, Local 391’s lead organizer, said workers are demanding better working conditions, affordable health insurance and job security, all issues that will be guaranteed in a strong Teamster contract.
