(LOS ANGELES) – Teamsters Joint Council 42 in Los Angeles, Calif. voted unanimously to sanction a possible strike that could impact more than 60,000 grocery workers in Central and Southern California that are represented by seven United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) local unions.
Workers who prepare, pack and deliver food and beverages served aboard flights for American, Delta, United and other airlines have voted overwhelmingly in favor of authorizing a strike when released by the National Mediation Board. It was the largest such vote ever to occur in the U.S. airline catering industry, with more than 11,000 workers voting in 28 cities.
A group of 85 retail concessions workers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in Minnesota have won their first contract that provides affordable health insurance, more vacation time and other improvements.

More than 400 Teamsters Local 528 members employed at Sysco are now on strike at the company’s College Park, Ga., distribution center after management unilaterally changed working conditions for employees and prevented the members from communicating with each other about ongoing contract negotiations.
