(SEATTLE) –Ahead of Verizon’s annual shareholder meeting Thursday, leading groups in the #TimesUp and #MeToo movements are calling on Verizon CEO Lowell C. McAdam and the company’s board of directors to meet with them and discuss next steps to end pervasive sexual harassment and misconduct in Verizon-contracted warehouses. The letter comes as female workers employed at the Verizon-contracted XPO Logistics warehouse in Memphis recently filed a wave of complaints with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). After receiving the group’s letter, Verizon stated on Wednesday that it will investigate the complaints.
Local 1932 is supporting legislation in the state of California which would make the process of subsidies for companies building warehouses in the Inland Empire more transparent so that good jobs can be made available to the community.

They join 93 Sysco Southeast Florida drivers who ratified the first union contract in the state in April 2017.
