Expanding Drug Testing Panel to Include Opioids

On November 13, 2017, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration published a Final Rule to amend its drug testing program to add four opioids: hydromorphone, hydrocodone, oxymorphone, and oxycodone to the drug testing panel.   This Final Rule becomes effective on January 1, 2018 and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) qualified drivers who are subject to mandatory testing pursuant to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will be affected by this regulatory revision.
