(WASHINGTON) – The following is a statement from Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa about the Senate’s failure yesterday to approve legislation that would have created a pathway to citizenship for as many as 1.8 million “Dreamers” brought to the U.S. by their parents as children who face the threat of deportation next month if Congress doesn’t act.
This week the Teamsters National Freight Industry Negotiating Committee (TNFINC) and ABF Freight resumed bargaining for a new national collective bargaining agreement and the union reported progress on some of the issues. The current agreement is set to expire on March 31, 2018.

(WASHINGTON) – The following is a statement from Teamsters Solid Waste & Recycling Division Director Ron Herrera in response to the death of Jeremy Gordon, a Teamster and 24-year driver at waste provider Recology, who died late last week in a collision while delivering a garbage compactor to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
The North Carolina Senate gave unanimous approval on Feb. 9, 2018, to Senate Resolution 709, a resolution approving the appointment of Vernon Gammon to the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System. Gammon was nominated to the post by Gov. Roy Cooper in May 2017.
