Specialized blood collection (apheresis) workers throughout Oregon who work for the American Red Cross (ARC) have voted to join Teamsters Local 223 in Portland.
(TUKWILA, Wash.) – More than 1,700 card room workers employed by Maverick Gaming have chosen Teamsters Local 117. The Seattle-based local union was authorized as the workers’ exclusive bargaining representative through a card check process conducted by an independent arbitrator today.

Workers have been at odds with management at GTI, stating a loss in benefits and pay, among other ongoing issues. Workers, seeking representation by Teamsters Local 371, state that in a burgeoning industry they want to make sure they’re protected and have a voice on the job, which is pivotal as the recreational market expands in Illinois.
There were hugs, cheers and smiles all around the night that the votes were counted, and registered nurses with St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho, found out they were officially Teamsters.
Mobile collection staff with the American Red Cross in Evansville, Ind., have voted unanimously to join Teamsters Local 215. There are 16 workers in the bargaining unit.
A group of 10 firefighters/Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in Illinois have voted unanimously to join Teamsters Local 525.
On Friday, March 8, a group of 34 drivers in Idaho and Oregon working at Food Services of America, Inc., which US Foods is in the process of purchasing, voted to become members of Teamsters Local 483 in Boise, Idaho and Local 670 in Salem, Oregon.
Recently, mechanics employed by Reyes Fleet Management in Chicago joined Local 727.
