(WASHINGTON) – Workers at Pollard Banknote have voted overwhelmingly to join Teamsters Local 337. The group of workers –– including press operators, machine technicians and assistants, and folder operators and assistants –– produce lottery tickets that are used by several states and countries.
“Before this campaign, it seemed like the enthusiasm in our plant was hanging on by a thread. But joining the Teamsters lit a fire under us, and it’s been a breath of fresh air,” said Jeremy Helton, a 10-year maintenance technician and proud new member of Local 337. “Being a Teamster means the world to my co-workers and me. We run this shop 24/7, and now we can work together to make sure we’re compensated fairly for it.”
Pollard Banknote workers joined the Teamsters to secure strong union representation that will help them ratify a contract guaranteeing them higher pay, better benefits, and improved work conditions.
“Local 337 and I are thrilled to welcome 180 new brothers and sisters of Pollard Banknote into our union,” said Todd Lince, President of Local 337. “Our organizers and organizing committee were indispensable throughout this campaign from day one until we declared victory. Now we’re ready to keep the momentum growing.”
“Workers at Pollard Banknote know that workers in their industry get more as Teamsters,” said Rocco Calo, Director of the Teamsters Industrial Trades Division. “We look forward to continuing to grow Teamsters density and organize more graphic communications, printing, and packaging workers and getting them the strong union protections they deserve.”
