(SAN JOSE, Calif.) – Tour guides at Winchester Mystery House in San Jose will now be represented by Teamsters Local 856. The workers voted for strong union representation to secure higher wages, better benefits, and improved working conditions.

“We are proud to welcome these new members to the Teamsters,” said Peter Finn, Director of the Teamsters Public Services and Health Care Division and Secretary-Treasurer of Local 856. “These tour guides work hard to give the guests of Winchester Mystery House an unforgettable experience. We look forward to helping them secure a fair contract that they deserve.”

The Winchester Mystery House is an historic landmark that opened in 1923. It was once the home of Sarah Winchester, heiress to the Winchester Repeating Firearms fortune. The tour guides walk guests through 24,000 square feet of sprawling property daily.

“I voted to unionize at the Winchester Mystery House because this landmark deserves a workforce that’s respected and secure,” said J. Jaramillo, a tour guide and member of Local 856. “Preserving history also means protecting the people who care for it every day.”

Teamsters 856 proudly represents over 20,000 working people throughout Northern California. For more information, go to teamsters856.org.
