(ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.) – Teamsters Joint Council 53’s Executive Board and delegates have unanimously endorsed Katie McGinty for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.

The endorsement took place Monday, Sept. 12 during its meeting in Atlantic City, N.J., where Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa and International Union Vice President Bill Hamilton resolved to win the historic organizing and bargaining campaigns at FedEx Freight.

“Katie McGinty will tirelessly fight for working families in Pennsylvania and across the United States,” Hamilton said. “During her speech, she talked about people’s constitutional right to form their unions, which is so refreshing to hear in today’s world where anti-worker, anti-union groups are out to deny workers their federally protected right to form their unions.”

Hamilton and Hoffa also reaffirmed the union’s commitment to win the organizing and bargaining campaigns at FedEx Freight. Hamilton is President of Local 107 in Philadelphia, which made history in October 2014 by winning the first representation election at FedEx Freight in the country. Local 107 is currently in contract negotiations with FedEx Freight. Negotiations are also taking place in Charlotte, N.C.

“Under Bill’s leadership, the Teamsters campaign to win justice for FedEx Freight workers is gaining momentum,” Hoffa said. “We are making history at FedEx Freight and it all started at Local 107 in Philadelphia.”
