Some 350 Teamsters working for Kraft Heinz in Fullerton, Calif. will remain on the job after Local 952 and the company reached an agreement on a new contract that will keep the food processing facility open.

Workers who make the “Lunchables” product there were told by the company last year that the facility would be closing this year or in early 2017. But growing demand for Lunchables caused the company to contact Local 952 leadership several weeks ago to discuss keeping the plant open. Workers there then ratified a new contract that will raise wages.

“We are very thankful that Kraft Heinz has reconsidered its decision to close and will keep the plant open,” said Local 952 Secretary Treasurer and Principal Officer Patrick Kelly. “Our membership, many whom have worked at the plant for decades, are thrilled to be able to remain employed with Kraft Heinz.”

Kelly added he wanted to thank all his staff, especially the bargaining committee and business agent Norma Lopez, for their involvement in helping to reach an agreement. He noted the factory is now hiring maintenance and technical employees as well.
