Metal Container Workers Ratify Contract with Teamsters Local 6
(ST. LOUIS) – Workers represented by Teamsters Local 6 have ratified their latest collective bargaining agreement with Metal Container Corporation, a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev. The workers manufacture cans for a wide variety of beer and soft drink companies, including Anheuser-Busch, which also has members in St. Louis represented by Local 6.
“Over 270 workers at this company are getting increased wages, more paid days off, enhanced life insurance benefits and other improvements because they stuck together during contract negotiations,” said Bob Gartner, Local 6 Secretary-Treasurer. “Congratulations to everyone at Metal Container Corporation, especially the members of the negotiating committee who worked hard to make this happen.”
“Our members at Metal Container Corporation are essential service workers and deserve to be treated that way,” said Greg Nowak, Director of the Teamsters Brewery and Soft Drink Conference. “Workers in the beverage industry across the country should take note of all they have to gain by forming their union with the Teamsters.”
