(ATLANTA) – Yesterday the International Brotherhood of Teamsters filed a lawsuit against ExpressJet Airlines, a United Express carrier, in a federal district court in Atlanta. The lawsuit alleges that the company triggered a “major dispute” under the Railway Labor Act (RLA), the law governing airline and railroad labor relations, when it unilaterally offered a bonus program to attract new airframe and powerplant (A&P) mechanics while it was negotiating with the union over fair pay rates for those workers.
Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa joined some 150 Houston-area Teamsters last weekend to discuss the important role of shop stewards in the union and how they serve as the cornerstone of organizing and political power.
Hoffa spoke, met and greeted attendees at Local 988’s fourth annual stewards conference, where on-the-ground union leaders received training on bargaining, communications and organizing, as well as got an opportunity to share best practices with one another at the all-day Jan. 25 event.
(WASHINGTON) – Teamsters employed at ABF Freight System will receive a 1 percent profit-sharing bonus—negotiated by the union—after the company reported fourth-quarter results today.
(PHILADELPHIA) – Today, Philadelphia school principals, vice principals and other administrative staff held a press conference at Teamsters Local 502 where they called on the School District of Philadelphia to immediately improve how it is handling findings of asbestos, lead and mold in Philadelphia schools.
The nation's water networks are in a dire state. Fixing them would not only make people healthy, but improve workers' lives as well.
(TUKWILA) – Teamsters Local 117 stands in solidarity with nearly 8,000 Swedish Medical Center workers who began a three-day unfair labor practices strike Tuesday morning. The workers are members of SEIU Local 1199NW.
